Client Choice

In 2020, we relaunched as a client choice pantry with the help of SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator, Julene DeRouchey, of K-State Research & Extension Pottawatomie County! Many aspects remain the same but two major changes implemented better meet the needs and dignity of our guests: location and client choice "shopping."

Guests now use our east entrance. Room 119 has been transformed into a pantry. This location provides a spacious pantry and more privacy. When guests arrive, they are given a shopping list based on the number of people in their household. Volunteers assist guests with the new process of selecting foods to best meet their needs and preferences. This process also reduces food waste and better equips guests with foods that fulfill their health needs!

Creative Meal Solutions

We partner with K-State Research & Extension Pottawatomie County to offer free nutrition and cooking classes — Creative Meal Solutions! Classes include a variety of nutrition and cooking information, a cooking demonstration, free samples and opportunities to win free groceries. Anyone in the community is welcome to attend!
